1. Watermelon Jell-O Shots
Planning on organizing a get-together with your friends? Let’s start with a recipe that’s ideal for a party setting.
Yes, believe it or not, watermelon Jell-O shots are a thing, and they’re a great way to have fun this summer. Plus, they’re not as hard to make as you might think.
Here’s a recipe that should help you make around 30 watermelon Jell-O shots.
What You’ll Need
· A big watermelon (14-16 pounds should do)
· 4 cups of vodka
· 4 cups of water
· Unflavored gelatin (2-ounce boxes should do)
· 4-ounce Jell-O boxes (we recommend watermelon flavor)
· 2 sheet pans
· Paper towels
· A large bowl

So, here’s how to make watermelon Jell-O shots in 7 steps:
1. Cut the watermelon in half lengthways. Remember to cut along the inside edge, and hold the knife at an angle toward the watermelon’s center.
2. Next, start cutting slices lengthwise, and take care not to cut the rind. Now, turn the watermelon, and repeat the process in the opposite direction. This way, you’ll end up with watermelon cube slices. To scoop them out, use a serving spoon. What you do with the cubes is up to you (we personally recommend eating them or serving them alongside the Jell-O shots).
3. Afterwards, start scraping out the rest of the watermelon. Ideally, you should be left with a smooth bowl that has at least ½ inch of red flesh.
4. Now, grab the sheet pans, and line them up with paper towels. Be sure to fold the towels into quarters lengthwise. Take each sliced watermelon half, and place them in each sheet pan. To ensure that the watermelon halves don’t roll around in the fridge, make sure to place the towels very snugly against all sides of the watermelon halves.
5. Take the large bowl, and start mixing the Jell-O and the gelatin. Boil some water, and add 4 cups. Next, start stirring the mixture thoroughly until it’s completely dissolved. Once that’s done, add the vodka, and continue stirring.
6. After that, take the vodka Jell-O blend, and carefully add it in each sliced watermelon half. Refrigerate both halves for about 4-5 hours.
7. When you want to serve the Jell-O shots, just use a knife to cut each half into 1-inch slices, and each slice into 3 wedges.
Your friends will definitely be amazed and have a lot of fun when you surprise them with these party treats.
2. A Watermelon Keg
If you’re planning a party, but want a more elegant approach, this option will be right up your alley.
We know setting up a watermelon keg might sound complicated, but it really isn’t. In fact, we’d wager to say it’s easier than making watermelon Jell-O shots.
What You’ll Need
· A watermelon (preferably a larger one)
· 10 leaves of fresh mint
· A fruit corer or a sharp knife
· 1 cup of vodka, tequila, or gin
· A fruit keg tapping kit (a beverage dispensing spigot works too)
· Granulated sugar (it’s optional)
· A blender

How to Make a Watermelon Keg
Just follow these 6 steps:
1. Choose the flatter end of the watermelon, and slice off some of the rind. This will help create a stable base for the watermelon keg. Please remember to only slice off the rind. Do not expose any of the watermelon’s red flesh (that will only cause leaks). Alternatively, if you have a large stable bowl, you don’t have to bother with this step as you can just place the watermelon in that bowl.
2. Now, slice off the opposite end. We recommend doing it about ¼ the way down the watermelon. That will expose the fruit. Do not throw the piece away, though, as you’ll be using it as a lid.
3. Next, start scooping out the red flesh inside the watermelon, and set it aside.
4. Afterwards, take the corer and work on creating a small opening. Do that about ¼ of the way up from the bottom end of the watermelon. Once that’s done, take the tapping kit and attach it to the watermelon’s shell, and the set the keg aside for a bit.
5. Add the watermelon flesh and some vodka, mint, and the optional sugar in the blender. Mix the ingredients until the whole mixture is fully liquid. In case you’re worried about seeds, just strain the mixture.
6. Afterwards, pour the whole mixture into the watermelon keg, and then place the lid on it. If you want to secure the lid, you can use toothpicks.
You can rest assured that your friends and family will love your work - especially thanks to the refreshing taste of watermelon with a bit of alcohol added into the mix.
Just remember that a watermelon keg will usually serve around 10-12 cups. In case you’ll be inviting a lot of people, we advise getting another watermelon or two (and tapping kits as well).
3. Spaced Out Watermelon Slices
If you’re aiming to wow your guests or family, then you can’t go wrong with spaced out watermelon slices. It even kind of looks like a modern art exhibit, right?

Even better, serving a watermelon like this isn’t difficult at all. Here’s a straightforward step-by-step guide:
· First, cut the watermelon in half. Then, cut each half in half. Basically, you’ll cut the watermelon into quarters.
· Next, use a very sharp knife to cut around the red flesh in each quarter to separate it. Take care to just cut close to the skin. Don’t actually take the flesh off the skin.
· Now, make slices down the entire piece. Do it short ways, so that the cut goes through the fruit and skin only most of the way.
· Afterwards, just use your fingers to push the watermelon slices. Push them part ways out in the opposite directions – in a zig-zag pattern, essentially.
4. A Watermelon “Grill”
We’re talking about serving the watermelon in the shape of a Weber grill – alongside some other delicious fruits as well.
It definitely looks amazing, right?

Well, you’ll be happy to know that serving a watermelon like this doesn’t require too much effort.
What You’ll Need
· One watermelon (preferably a large one)
· 3 stalks of celery
· Toothpicks
· Assorted fruits – the choice is up to you
· Wooden skewers
· A zucchini or a cucumber (they are optional)
· Blackberries
· A melon baller
· Wire cutters (we know it sounds weird, but bear with us)
How to Make a Watermelon Grill
Just follow these 9 simple steps:
1. First things first – soak the celery stalks in cold water and leave them in the refrigerator overnight a day in advance.
2. Now, take the watermelon and a sharp knife, and cut 3 holes on the bottom of the watermelon. Make sure the holes are slightly smaller than the celery stalks.
3. Next, slice the watermelon in half. Take care to ensure that the upper part is smaller than the bottom part (for better stability). Once you’re done, start hollowing out the watermelon with the melon baller, and set the watermelon balls aside.
4. Take the larger watermelon bowl, and insert the wooden skewers into the top edge. Be sure to push them through the other side until they are flush with the rind. Before adding the last skewer, take the blackberries and add them in the watermelon bowl. They’ll act as the “charcoal.”
5. Once that’s done, take the wire cutters, and start trimming the wooden skewers until you notice they are flush with the rind. If you don’t have wire cutters, just use kitchen shears.
6. Afterwards, take the celery stalks and insert them in the watermelon bowl holes. If it’s necessary, you can widen the holes a bit, but remember that it’s important for the holes to be tight. If you want to make sure the watermelon grill is 100% stable, add wooden skewers alongside the celery stalks.
7. Now, you can start working on the “fruit kebabs.” The process is pretty straightforward. Just cut up the fruits into small pieces, and skewer them. Don’t forget to use the watermelon balls too.
8. If you want to make a lid for the top watermelon bowl, you can use the cucumber or zucchini. Just cut up a small piece, and attach it to the watermelon grill with toothpicks.
9. All that’s left now is to place the fruit kebabs on and around the watermelon grill, and serve the masterpiece to your friends and family. You can rest assured they’ll be all smiles.
5. A Watermelon Teapot
Planning just a small get-together with some close friends instead of a party? Well, then a watermelon teapot is exactly the kind of elegant dish that will make such an event a huge success.
After all, just look at how gorgeous it is!

And, of course, making something like this isn’t hard at all.
What You’ll Need
· A round, large watermelon (preferably a seedless one)
· Sturdy toothpicks
· Paring knives (kitchen knives are a good alternative too)
· A melon baller
· A small, round cookie cutter
· Blueberries and raspberries (optional)
How to Make a Watermelon Teapot
All you need to do is follow these 6 straightforward steps:
1. Start by slicing off a piece of the watermelon – around 1 ½ inches down on the stem end should do.
2. Use the cookie cutter to cut a small and round cover handle out of the center of that piece. The “ring” that remains should be placed on a serving plate. Next, take the whole watermelon, and place it on the “ring,” cut side down.
3. Now, slice off around 4 inches from the other end, and set the piece aside. Take the melon baller, and start scooping out the insides of the watermelon. When you’re done, set aside the watermelon balls.
4. Take the 4-inch piece and slice it in half lengthwise. The idea is to make two 2-inch round pieces. You’ll be using the round end piece as a teapot cover. Take the melon baller, and make a decorative cut on top of the cover, and fill it with a melon ball. As for the remaining slices, cut them in half, and scoop out the red flesh. They will be the spout and handle.
5. Make final adjustments to the spout and handle pieces if necessary by trimming them. Make sure they fit flat against the melon. When everything is in order, use the toothpicks to attach the pieces to the watermelon teapot.
6. Lastly, fill up the watermelon teapot with the melon balls, and any additional fruits (we recommend raspberries and blueberries).
And now you have a lovely, elegant, and creative way to enjoy watermelon (and other fruits) with your loved ones to combat the summer heat.
